Meet Xena, a stunning black and tan German Shepherd with a story of resilience and hope. At 5 ½ years old, this AKC-registered beauty was once used for breeding and then discarded when she was no longer needed. Now, she’s on a journey to discover the love and security she’s always deserved.
Xena is a gentle soul, timid yet longing for human connection. She’s never known what it means to be truly cherished, making her a bit unsure of the world around her. However, she has no aggression—only a quiet, cautious heart in need of patience and reassurance. She walks well on a leash, staying close behind, and is slowly learning to accept affection without fear.
A social, confident canine companion will be essential for Xena. She feels much more at ease around other dogs, and having a steady, friendly role model will help her gain confidence and learn how to embrace her new life. While she was introduced to a few cats at the shelter and showed little interest, further testing would be recommended.
Currently undergoing heartworm treatment, Xena is expected to be ready for her forever home in early May. She needs a family willing to guide her with patience and kindness, and in return, she will blossom into a devoted and loving companion. The journey with Xena will take time, but the reward—a bond of pure loyalty and love—will be worth every moment.
