Storm is a 2-year-old white German Shepherd who is ready for a fresh start. Born and raised on one property, he has not had much exposure to the outside world. Because of this, new people and situations can make him a little nervous at first—but with patience, food motivation, and gentle guidance, Storm warms up quickly and shows his sweet, affectionate side.
During his assessment, Storm did well with handling and accepted touch from head to tail. He is food motivated and responds well when treats are involved, which will be very helpful as he begins obedience training. Storm has not had formal training or regular leash work, so he will need an adopter who can help him learn the basics.
When meeting other dogs, Storm was reserved and a little unsure. He was more comfortable with a male dog than a female, and once he felt secure, he gave polite greetings before choosing to walk away. Storm would do best in a calm home with another steady, confident dog to help him learn trust and appropriate social skills. He is not recommended for a home with small children at this time, but he has lived around many cats and does very well with them.
Storm is not neutered, current on vaccines, or on preventatives. Fleas were noticed at assessment, but no other health issues have been confirmed.
This young shepherd has great potential to become a loyal and loving companion in the right home. With time, structure, and kindness, Storm will gain the confidence he needs to thrive.
