SOHPIE ~8-10 years old. Good with kids and dogs. Not good with cats.GSRA adopts to residents of VA NC and SC onlyWhy hello there!! My name is Sophie and I am a super fun and mature lady looking for a special family to spend time with! I am a slightly older girl but don't let my age and/or looks fool you...I have plenty of spunk left in me!Not much is known about my past....I was picked up as a stray. I was emaciated and suffering from skin infections and missing lots of fur. My ears were infected and my eyes were all goopy. I was just a mess. In spite of my miserable condition I was sweet and friendly to everyone. The vet at the shelter reached out to the rescue and asked them if they would help.Fast forward a couple of months...I am doing so much better. I look a lot younger now that I have gained some weight and had a few baths! I am about 51-60 Pounds and my coat is growing back nicely. My ear is permanently crumpled up...kind of gives me an extra cute look!So a bit about me! I am a cool dog even my foster mom says so! I am sweet and friendly and love to get attention from my people. I am very food motivated. I am probably somewhere in the 8-10 year range. I will not be able to run marathons or hike up the mountains but if you want a buddy for a walking companion I am in! I have plenty of bounce in my step...I kind of surprised my foster mom when I started trying to play with some of the younger dogs a few weeks ago. I get along very well with other dogs. Due to my age I would be best with a buddy that is not too rough or fast. I am a little stiff at times but I still get up and run! I am also very good in the house. I probably spent my life as an outside dog but have acclimated quickly to the wonderful features of indoor living! I am very content to curl up on a dog bed and watch you or take a nap while you watch tv or work on the computer. I ride very well in the car and enjoy going places.I am a bit camera shy so foster mom has a hard time taking good pics of me! Plus I just want to be near her so that also makes picture taking more awkward. I may look sad in the pics but that is only because of my crumpled ear. I am really a very happy girl with a carefree personality.I can have a canine companion and would probably be ok as an only dog as well. However I need a house with no kitties. I am way too interested in them and not in a good way according to my foster mom. She says I can even get the old legs into 5th gear when I see a cat! I am crate trained but also perfectly fine being left loose in the house by myself. I am getting ready to start heartworm treatment in a couple of weeks so it will be mid March before I am ready to go.So what do you say? Are you ready for some love and affection from a sweet older girl??? I promise I will add a lot of joy to your life! Looking forward to meeting you!Love SophiePlease Note: Sophie is dealing with some medical issues and will not be placed in a new home until medically cleared.
