I've found my furever family!

~2 years old. Good with kids and dogs. Cats TBD. Handsome smart and a great personality all wrapped up in a big furry package we call Sherman! Wow you would never know (or understand why) this happy lovable boy was abandoned tied to a tree without water food or shelter and with a collar ingrown in his neck. Fortunately the animal control facility in charge of Sherman recognized this gem of a dog and contacted GSR&A. Happy Birthday Sherman you made it! Sherman's pictures will speak for themselves and you will see that he is a perfectly gorgeous specimen of a GSD. You might even recognize his super sized personality shining through in some of the photos but you've really got to spend some time with this sweet boy to really appreciate his character.Sherman's personality is his biggest asset! He is a mild-mannered laid back boy who just wants to be loved and hang out with his family. He is eager to please but still needs reminders on manners and realizing that he is not a lap dog. If you sit down on the floor he will walk over and fall down right into your lap. Actually if you stoop down to pet him he will immediately lean into your legs and fall over onto his back hoping you'll scratch his belly. Sherman LOVES toys and we are trying to teach him to fetch but right now he just likes to chase the ball and then run around with it in his mouth. He loves Nylabones balls frisbees stuffed toys and blankets. He is so quirky. When he is done playing in the yard he'll come up onto the deck and sit in our patio chairs patiently waiting to be united with us. When it is time to relax he drags his blankie out of his crate and works it into a ball between his front legs and then proceeds to 'nurse& #039 the blanket. It must be his way of comforting himself I have never seen this done by a dog before.Otherwise this boy is crate trained house trained and good with my kids ages 6 8 and 11. Sherman has not been destructive to our house and does not bark without good reason. He gets along well with our female GSD although he does want to play a lot! He walks pretty well on-leash and is being walked in a harness due to sensitivity around his neck because of the ingrown collar. Because he is 75 lbs and pretty strong my only caution would be that he needs a fairly strong and knowledgeable handler during walks. I think he is going to be fine with other dogs but could still use manners when greeting.Sherman is truly one of those special once in a lifetime dogs!
