SAMPSON ~6 years old. Good with kids and dogs. Cats TBD.GSRA adopts to residents of VA NC and SCHandsome Sampson came to GSRA after living a vagabond life in western NC&mdashhe had a home of sorts but was left on his own to come and go as he pleased and he received no regular vet care. This means that when he finally landed in the shelter for good (after being a frequent flier for years) he had a few health issues that needed to be addressed&mdashhe was absolutely miserable from a long-standing ear infection and was also heartworm positive. The shelter did a wonderful job of starting to address both problems but when it became clear that Sampson would need specialty care to really clear his ear infections they reached out to GSRA to help.We were happy to offer it! Sampson has been HAPPY to trade his free-wheeling former lifestyle for life as an inside dog with an established routine regular meals and soft beds. He's a medium energy guy who enjoys walks (on-leash these days!) car rides meeting new people and dog friends and chasing anything you'll throw. But when it's time to just hang out in the house he's also happy to be your Netflix binge-buddy. He would do fine in a multi-dog household but would also be fine as an only dog as long as his people were around much of the time. He's also trustworthy left loose in the house while you're away. If its not clear he's pretty much perfect it should be!!!Chronic ear infections can take a few months to clear during the best of time and the covid pandemic is causing most vet clinics (including specialty clinics) to operate with reduced staff. These things combined mean that Sampson won't be truly ready for adoption until March or later. But even if he can't join your family just yet we thought you'd want to meet him. :-)
