RANGO ~1 year old. Good with older children over the age of 14 and dogs. Cats TBD.GSRA adopts to residents of VA NC and SC only Hello World!! Handsome boy Rango here! I'm checking in to tell you a little bit about myself and see if I can become the newest member of your family.I am a very tall and lanky boy. I am only about 1-1.5 years so I am in that awkward growth stage...I am thin but am gaining weigh. I am going to be a large boy when I finish growing and fill out. I spent the first part of my life living in a backyard kennel....I was not happy about that arrangement and started escaping. My original owner dumped me at the shelter and that's when GSRA stepped in and said I would have a great new life!I am a blank slate. My previous owner just left me out there and did not do anything with me. Life is good here at my foster home. I really enjoy and want to be near my people. I am very eager for attention and can be a bit over enthusiastic. I really want to please and am eager to learn. I am very food motivated so training should be easy. I enjoy being in the house. I will follow you everywhere in typical shepherd fashion. I am also crate trained. I love to be petted and will happily squirm around. I have a LOT of energy and need a large fenced yard. I am very athletic and very fast. I would probably do very well at agility training. I would also be a great running partner if you are a jogger!I am good with several of my female dog housemates. I am a bit socially awkward. I want to play but I get a bit over excited. I tend to react based on the energy level of the other dog. When I am outside with an older dog I try to get her to play and if she doesn't respond I just go find something else to do. I have been doing much better with the younger and more energetic dogs and will take verbal correction well when I start getting a bit too amped up. I will do best with a companion female dog that is wanting to play and run but is not overly dominant. (My foster mom says that she wants to wait another couple of weeks to introduce me to male dogs since I was recently neutered).I do like the tennis ball and anything else that gets me attention from my human. I do tend to run right over when I am called. The rescue is not sure if I am a full shepherd or if I am a shepherd/Malinios blend. I do have a "square" build so we are leaning towards thinking there is Malinios in my genes. This would also explain my high energy and "mouthiness". I tend to try to grab/mouth your clothes/hands etc when I get excited. Foster mom is trying to get me to stop this behavior...she says it is not an endearing characteristic to have. I am trying very hard to change!I do have considerable prey drive and will chase squirrels when they happen to show up in the yard.If you think I might be the attentive and happy boy you are looking for please come and meet me soon! Foster mom says I won't last long! I am a very sweet guy who will blossom with some training structure and love! Hope to meet you soon!Rango
