Queenie -2 years old. Good with older considerate children. Good with cats (with supervision). Not good with dogs (but can change with more socialization)We don't know anything about her early life but suspect that she was a yard dog since she didn't seem to know much about houses. But she must have been treated nicely because she thinks people are great.Queenie is very friendly and easy going. Three days after I picked her up at the shelter I took her on a Sierra Club hike with 10 people at the Eno Park. She was friendly to everyone and was a real favorite with all. She is responsive to the tone of my voice but does not seem to have had much training. She has already learned &ldquocome&rdquo and walks well on a leash with very little pulling. She rides quietly in the car and can be left uncrated in the house. She likes to chew on rawhide but has not chewed on anything that I did not give her. She has the shepherd focus on her person wants to please and is easily corrected so I think that training will come easily for her. Like many shepherds she is athletic and full of energy and bounces around the house. Because of her youth Queenie would do best with an experienced dog owner who can make sure that Queenie knows that the people are the ones in charge. She has not challenged me at all and does not guard her f ood but would do best with a strong leader. Very good with people good with children age 6 and older interested in cats but needs supervision around them to set boundaries. Queenie is reactive around other dogs and barks and pulls on the leash when we pass some dogs on a walk. I think that with more socialization and a strong hand she can stop this and we are working on it.Although Queenie does not have the classic black & tan coloring of most GSDs she has the body and head shape. If you look at pictures of the early working German Shepherds you will see dogs that look a lot like Queenie. Queenie will need a home where she can get plenty of exercise and intellectual stimulation. She is smart and inquisitive and would do well in agility or obedience training. She is also very cute and affectionate.
