Meet Nico!
At just 15 weeks old, this brown and black bundle of joy has already discovered his calling: rescuing other dogs.
Nico came to the shelter as a stray, with no one to claim him and a small limp that's since healed up beautifully. The shelter staff fell hard for his sweet, loving nature, and so did we. But what makes Nico's story really special is what he's doing right now in his foster home. He's gently helping a young, abused German Shepherd puppy learn that humans can be kind. This little rescue pup is, in his own quiet way, rescuing another dog.
That's just who Nico is.
He's a puppy through and through, full of wiggles, eager to play fetch (and he'll happily bring the ball right back so you can throw it again), and convinced that every person he meets is his new best friend. He adores children, gets along with dogs of every size and gender, and showed zero food, toy, or handling sensitivities during his assessment. You can touch his ears, his feet, his tail, even his mouth, and he just thinks it's all part of being loved on. He already knows a few basic commands, and at this age, he's a little sponge ready to soak up everything his forever family wants to teach him.
Nico would thrive in just about any home, with kids, with other dogs, in a busy household or a quiet one. What he needs is a family ready to grow with him, give him a lifetime of belly rubs, and let him keep being the gentle, generous-hearted boy he already is.
If you're ready to be rescued by Nico the way that little GSD pup is being rescued, we'd love to hear from you.
