Meet Max!
Max is a striking red and black young man, roughly 1-2 years old, with a heart that's about three sizes too big for his body. This boy is here for the love — he wants to be cuddled, held, jumped into your arms, and generally smothered with all the affection you've got to give. Personal space? Never heard of her.
His backstory is a tough one: Max was picked up as a stray, and when his owner was notified, they didn't want him back. Their loss is going to be someone else's huge gain, because Max has clearly decided he's done holding grudges and is ready to find his real people.
During his assessment, Max was a gem. He shared his food without a peep, was completely relaxed about being handled, and got along beautifully with both a male and a female dog. Toys aren't really his thing — he'd much rather be the toy you're snuggling.
Like a lot of young dogs, Max needs some work on his manners (the jumping is adorable now, less so when he's a full-grown shepherd launching at Grandma). He'll thrive with an adopter ready to put in some training time. He'd do equally well as an only dog or with a canine sibling to hang with.
If you've got room in your lap and your heart for a sweet, social, jump-into-your-arms kind of guy, Max is ready when you are.

Max has already settled in and bonded with us very quickly. He is a very loving, sweet boy. During the day, he settles very nicely and will only on occasion check in for some pets/attention and outside time if he needs. He also does very well in the crate and is fine being left alone in it for a couple of hours, although he would strongly prefer to be with his people always. He needs work with counter surfing - that head of his is perfect counter height, and jumping on people. We've taken him out and about several times and this dog has never met a stranger - he loves everyone, human and dog. He is super smart and has already mastered sit, down, and come (sometimes, unless he's distracted, which he easily is) with very little training. While he can chill for hours at a stretch, he is very high energy and MUST get regular walks, playtime, and mental exercise. He is an absolute gem of a dog and we've loved fostering him.
