LUKA ~1.5 year old. TBD if good with kids and dogs. Not good with cats. Older considerate kids only.GSRA adopts to residents of VA NC and SC only.Hello world! My name is Luka and I am a recent addition to the GSRA family. I am a two year old petite German Shepherd. I weigh about 52 lbs and am actively looking for a new family to love me.Not much is known about my past. I was surrendered to a small rural shelter when my original owner decided to move and for some reason I was not invited to the relocation.I was very frightened when I first got to the shelter. The wonderful folks at the shelter worked with me to build my confidence and to improve my interaction with people. I have gotten so much better since I've gotten into rescue. I am not a social butterfly but I bond very quickly with my people and will be very devoted to you. I am a little nervous in new settings so you have to help me understand that there is no threat with new experiences.I am a really good girl in the house! I am house trained and crate trained. I like to follow my foster mom around and if she watches TV I'm happy to go and lay nearby and just chill out. I have not exhibited any destructive tendencies.I am very eager for attention and very food motivated. I do know how to sit. I am a master at sit! If you hold up a treat I will pop my butt down! This is about the only command I know aside from recall. Once I accept you as my person if you call me over I come running right to you. I will sell my soul for a treat so I'm sure that if you have some high value items such as Bojangles or hotdogs I will probably be willing to learn many more tricks and commands! My foster mom thinks that I must've been an outside dog. While I like attention I am very fidgety and I'm not quite sure what to do with myself when you try to pet me. I try to jump and squiggle around. But I do like the attention. I am a diamond in the rough.I ride very well in the car and I am a fairly quiet dog in the house!Per the shelter I previously lived with another male German Shepherd. My foster mom says that I'm a little dog selective. Maybe I'm just not sure of how to interpret new dogs but I can be an only dog or if there's another dog in the household we will have to do a few meets to see if I will accept you as part of my pack. With that being said I am perfectly fine on a leash around other dogs. I do not exhibit any snarky behaviors.I do have a fairly high prey drive so my forever home cannot have any kitty cats or small dogs. I am a little jumpy when I get startled so I think a home with children over 10 would be best.I am a really nice girl and I'm hoping that if you meet me and spend a little time with me you will see all the potential I have. Foster mom says I'm wonderful and that the rescue will find me the perfect home. A fenced yard is really preferred because I'm a little scared of new things!Thank you for reading my story and I hope to meet you soon! Maybe you can be my forever family.
