(3 years) Good with kids dogs and cats. Update: Lilly was spayed on 9/29/10 and has recovered nicely with no complications. She seems to know she is finally "free"of her former life and is happy with her new life. And so are we ! She is a sweet and calm butconfident young lady. Having recently met several kids on walks in the neighborhood she is delighted to be with them as well as the adults. She has received compliments such as "what a pretty dog" "she's a very nice dog"as her Mom that makes me very proud indeed.Lilly joined the rescue on Labor Day weekend. She was an owner surrender to Hoke County AC. The shelter worker called us to ask that she be assessedand taken in to our care. He was impressed with her calm and sweet demeanor and classic good looks.Originally thought to be ~ 2yrs the vet that gave her the once-over thinks she is probably closer to 3. He was able to tell she has had several litters. She was probably used for breeding then thrown away. Lucky for her !! She was mostly bones when she was pulled from the shelter but has put on some weight and has flourished into a sweet gentle loving cuddle muffin. She will be spayed this week - NO MORE PUPPIES for her. After a recovery of about one week she will be ready to move on to her forever home where she can enjoy giving her love and receiving love in return. She is Heartworm negative walks well on leash will follow you from room to room but settles down instantly and is happy to "just be with you". She weighed in at 60lbs with all her ribs and hip bones clearly visible therefore when she fills out she willbe a beautiful and large classic black/tan GSD with long legs and pearly white teeth. Oh yes she wants me to be sure and tell you that she LOVES LOVES LOVES to ride in the car !Lilly is learning to live on a farm with horses and many dogs. She has been desensitized to the horses. Lilly went on her first trail ride and she did great. She played in the woods and in the pond with the dogs. She was very respectful of the horses and gave them space. Lilly is full of energy. She loves to sit on the golf cart during the day. She likes the outdoors. At night she lays on a pallet in the house and sleeps through the night. Although the doc says that she is three she has the energy of a two year old. Lilly is going to be beautiful when she gains that extra ten pounds. She is so intelligent. She is learning German obedience commands and has added the second language quite readily. She loves to track in the woods. I gave her the scent of a key the other day and she tracked it across the woods. So much fun. But Lilly needs to be in a one or two dog owner family. She thrives on attention and positive reinforcement and loves to be close to her owner.
