Four-year-old long-haired German Shepherd with a sweet, loyal, and very affectionate personality. He is highly intelligent and eager to engage with his person, often wanting to stay close and follow you from room to room. He can have difficulty settling at times and may pace or whine, but this has improved with neutering and medication and would likely continue to improve in an active, structured home.
He is dog reactive and does best with experienced handlers. He currently lives with other dogs and cats; he does well with cats but may chase them playfully. He tends to do better with smaller dogs, though he can be pushy and rough during play, so he would ideally be an only dog unless placed with someone experienced in managing reactivity and introductions.
He is very smart and knows sit, down, stay, paw, other paw, and “middle.” He has begun dock diving lessons and excels at it. He is extremely toy motivated (not very treat motivated), loves fetch, and is happiest when playing or working. He loves water, swimming, hiking, and structured activities. He is accustomed to wearing a weight-pull harness, though he has not pulled weight yet.
He is crate trained and house trained, signaling when he needs to go outside. He does best in quieter environments and is typically walked in low-traffic areas.
He is neutered, microchipped, heartworm negative, and fully up to date on vaccines, heartworm prevention, and flea/tick prevention. He will come with his crate, food, collar, leash, harness, toys, medications, bowls, and enrichment items.
