JIMMY ~2-3 years old. Good with dogs. Kids and cats TBD.GSRA adopts to residents of VA NC and SC only.Jimmy is an adorable 2-3 year old boy who has had a difficult life so far. Originally found as a stray he was adopted out by the shelter and then picked up a year later as an abuse case (he was neglected and starved). He spent several months at the shelter while they were waiting for his case to go to court. The shelter did a great job of nursing him back to health and also working on his trust issues. Jimmy has been through a lot and still has some insecurities stemming from his abuse. He takes a while to warm up to people and can be nervous in unfamiliar settings.Once Jimmy is comfortable with you he is very happy and loving. He is protective over his people in his home environment. He will bark and let you know when someone is approaching. Jimmy is a sweet boy who needs a quiet home with stability and structure. He will do best in a home where there are not a lot of different people visiting often. Due to his prior history of abuse it would probably be best that Jimmy goes to an adult only home. He has not demonstrated any animosity towards children but we are unsure of the extent of his neglect and as such we feel he might be overwhelmed by the excitement and activity level of children and their friends.Jimmy enjoys going for walks and does very well on leash. He does get a bit excited when he sees a squirrel but then again what GSD doesn't react to squirrels? Jimmy enjoys being near his people but is not pushy. He is a quiet boy. Jimmy seems very eager to please those he loves. He knows how to sit and is pretty food motivated. Additional training experiences with his new family will help him bond and also make him more confident. He is housebroken and crate trained. He will happily wag his tail when you say his name. He has a beautiful and expressive face and you can see that he has a lot of love to give. He just needs someone who will be patient with him and work to build his confidence and trust.Jimmy seem to like most other dogs as long as they are not very dominant or high energy. He seems to want to play and will happily run around with some of his foster siblings. He does get a bit over excited around one of my very high energy dogs and will feed off her energy and get a bit overbearing. A friendly and moderately active friendly dog would be a good match for himJimmy is a doll. Once you get to know him you will fall in love with his sweet personality. Come meet Jimmy soon!
