Meet Jackie – Gentle Soul Looking for Her Person
Jackie is a soft, soulful young German Shepherd who’s just beginning her new chapter with GSRA. She was surrendered to the shelter alongside her 11-week-old puppy who has been adopted. Now it’s Jackie’s turn to find a home where she can finally feel safe and loved.
At first, Jackie can be timid and unsure in new situations. But with just a little patience and kindness, she begins to blossom. She bonds deeply and quickly with people who show her compassion. Once she’s found her person, she wants to keep them close and never let go. Because of this, Jackie needs an adopter (or a team of two) who can help her form healthy attachments and gently guide her as she builds confidence.
Jackie is a quiet, observant dog who wants to do the right thing. She walks nicely on leash, knows how to sit, and is quick to respond to gentle redirection. She’s a “diamond in the rough”—the kind of dog who just needs a little polishing to shine.
She’s done well with other dogs, showing friendly, respectful body language with both males and females. She’d likely benefit from having a calm, confident dog companion. Jackie hasn’t shown interest in toys yet, and her reaction to cats was mixed—she wasn’t fixated, but she did bark when a kitten startled her. We recommend caution in homes with cats.
Ideal Forever Home:
A patient, compassionate person (or couple) who can build trust
Another friendly dog would be a plus
A calm, low-chaos environment where she can settle in and feel secure
Jackie may not have had the best start in life, but she hasn’t given up on people. She’s sweet, sensitive, and ready to find someone who will never let her go.
Note: Jackie is currently undergoing heartworm treatment and will be spayed once her treatment is complete. She’s expected to be ready for her forever home by mid-November.
