HUCK ~2 years old. Good with older considerate children and dogs. Not good with cats. GSRA adopts to residents of VA NC and SC only. Meet Huck! Huck is a medium sized young boy with a lot of energy and a stubborn streak! His favorite past times are wrestling with his foster brother and patrolling the yard for squirrels. He also likes to spend time trying to convince the resident cat to come out of hiding so he can bark at him. The cat is not falling for it. A dog savvy cat may be ok with Huck but Huck is NOT a dog that will ignore the cat and walk on by.Huck is vocal and will sing for his supper. He is crate trained sleeping in his crate overnight and going in there when the family is gone or just when he's tired and gives himself a break. Huck is trained to potty outdoors and has not had any issues with this. He is still young (under 2) with a young dog's energy and an almost teenager-like stubborn streak. He is smart enough to wait until his foster parents are settled into a recliner or couch and talking before he ducks into the kitchen to check the counters for leftovers. He will need consistent training to teach him counter surfing mouthiness and ignoring his owners are not acceptable. He generally comes when called in the house but once outside in the fenced yard he starts patrolling the perimeter searching for squirrels and birds that might be invading his territory. This job consumes his attention so he just doesn't think he needs to pay attention to the human. He will play with other dogs and in lieu of other dogs he will fetch a soccer ball a few times. Tennis balls seem less satisfying to this boy. We are still working on leash manners. This boy has places to go and he wants to get there in a hurry!Rough edges aside Huck is a sweetheart of a boy and wants to be near his humans. If his foster mom is moving around the house he is right on her heels. If she's in the laundry room where he is not allowed he pokes his head through the cat door to keep an eye on her and make sure she hasn't run off. I'm pretty sure if he were allowed on the furniture he'd curl up right next to her after he smothered her with kisses.
