I've found my furever family!

(About 1 year old) Good with kids. OK with some dogs and some cats.11/8 Foster Update: No doubt that Hollie is a big and beautiful girl with a personality to match her physical size. If you are looking for a sophisticated wine or martini drinking sort this is not your gal but if you are familiar with the line "Good time Charlie with a Harley whiskey bent and hell bound" from Montgomery Gentry's song "One in Every Crowd" she could be your dream date. Please don't misunderstand she is a good and sweet girl just not too gentle and certainly not reserved. The proverbial'bull in the china shop'. Hollie lives with three children ages (4-9) and is very good with them and would never purposefully hurt them but is not the typical gentle giant. She loves to sit beside your or on you doesn't really matter to her. Hollie believes that all other creatures with fur were specifically put on the earth for her chewing pleasure. Therefore it will depend entirely on the humans dog and cat if she can exist in a family with other 4-legged critters. She is currently residing happily with Daizy and has endured (and the other dogs survived) several rounds of dog-sitting. Mostly she just needs a strong human to let her know who is in-charge.My bestguess of her previous life was one that wasn'tabusive but one that didn't socialize herbeyond their home and yard.Hollie isa bit apprehensivemeeting new people. She quickly warms up esp. if they ignore her and allow her to come up andcheck them out before they lavish her with the love she deserves.She is also a bit nervous when encounteringchanges in a familiar landscape. Such as a parked car that isn't normally there heavy landscaping equipment and bikes scooters etc... However with a strong and reassuring hand she willeasily overcome these fears. I walkher for 30-45 minutes per day and she has gotten used to alot of these new things and walking beside a stroller. Hollie is looking for a fun-lovingand energetic 4-ever home.She will requirea handler (s) thatis dogsavvy and strong both physically and mentally. She is completely house-trained and crate-trained but will chewindescriminately if notprovided with enough physical exercise. She needs a family committed to her continued socialization and one that is active enough toallow her to burn off energy in a fun and positive way. Hollie is a super dog and one of that will provide her owners with much love and laughter. 8/2010Hollie is our resident canine super-model. She's already been approach by Victoria Secrets to model some of their canine lingerie but she prefers a quieter less public lifestyle and so is looking for a family to spend time with. Like so many of our dogs Hollie fell on some rough times before coming to GSRA. At the tender age of 14 months she was deposited in a shelter along with the family cat due to financial hard times her former family had fallen on. She was pathetically underweight (but then what super model isn't??) but otherwise healthy. She is now slowly putting weight on and should end up being a LARGE girl once she is up to her ideal weight.Hollie is well and truly still a puppy and acts like she never experienced a childhood before. She's rambunctious and playful a little too mouthy (nothing that training can't help mind you) and intrigued by anything and everything that moves...or she thinks *should* move (shoes books nik-naks toes!!). She is very interested in the resident cat but means him no harm. Although she has been slapped in the face many times (sometimes with both paws !) she is stubborn and comes right back for more interaction. We are still trying to work out how Hollie feels about her canine companions. At the moment I think the concensus is that she is an alpha-oriented girl who would do best either as an only dog or perhaps with a very chilled-out canine brother. Other girl dogs seem to get her a little too excited. We think it is a legacy from her days on the cat walk where all those girls could be oh so grouchy to one another!Hollie is an excellent girl in the house. She is crate trained and sleeps quietly through the night. She knows she has to sit and settle before being allowed out of the crate but you must insist (did I mention that this girl is hard-headed???). She will also sit for food treats her leash and to go out the door - all things she has learned since being in her foster home! This is one super model who is smart as a whip!Hollie is looking for a family who knows and understands GSDs and who will help her blossom into the well-mannered canin member of society we know she can be. In order for her to reach her full potential Hollie will need a home with a strong pack leader - her alpha tendancies (especially with other dogs) have been clearly exhibited and so she must be shown who is the boss or she will take over.Hollie is a high energy gal and needs a lot of exercise and attention. She is very alert and has a deep bark that keeps her family aware of strangers coming near the property! She needs an active family that will include her in all the family outings - Hollie like all GSDs wants to be wherever the action is! A couple of teenager siblings who are into jogging ball throwing etc... would suit her well but no small children please until she has outgrown her "puppiness" and understands proper behavior and what her boundaries are.Hollie is stunning smart strong and challenging ....... pretty much everything a GSD should be. So if you're up for a challenge this girl will be an incredible addition for an active owner/family and a best friend forever more.
