GORDON ~8 years old. Good with older considerate children and dogs. Would enjoy a companion animal. Not good with cats.GSRA Adopts to residents of VA NC and SC onlyWho is the hunkiest by far of the lesser known super-heros? Flash Gordon of course! Did you know we have our very own Flash Gordon right here in GSRA and he's hunky too? Truth! I bet you're wondering what our Flash Gordon's superpower is. Well let's see. How about when he flashes has smile (ha ha flash get it?) the room lights up and all the ladies swoon. Pretty good huh? Our Gordon differs from his alter ego in speed though&mdashhe does not exactly move at flash speed. No he's more of a brisk walk or slow lope kind of guy but that works better for the person on the other end of the leash anyway. :-) Gordon's a relatively low energy dog overall. He LOVES to go on walks and enjoys nosing around the yard but he doesn't need to run around and play fetch or cavort with other dogs so would do fine without a fenced yard&mdasha few walks each day with his person is all the exercise he needs. Gordon enjoys the company of other dogs but doesn't strictly need a play buddy he just needs companionship from either humans or dogs. A home with people who are home during the day would be great but if not he'd probably be happiest with another dog to hang out with during the day.Gordon has excellent house manners. He's comfortable in his crate and will often go into it to lie down but he's non-destructive in the house and perfectly fine being left loose while you're away. Gordon loves to ride in the car and go on outings and is very friendly to new people when meeting them. He's also friendly to new dogs but pretty vocal when meeting them letting loose an embarrassing series of excited squeals and whines&mdashembarrassing because it's not very super hero-like especially coming from such a big dog. :-) But the noise ends as soon as you allow him to meet the newcomer and then life is good again. I think it's something that will decrease over time as he gets exposed to more new things but don't know that for sure.Gordon is in excellent health but does have skin allergies. These are currently well-controlled on one of the newer allergy medicines (Cytopoint) and we'll be seeing a specialist at the NCSU vet school in late April to discuss whether this is the best option for him long-term. We'll update this bio to reflect anything new we learn at that visit. You may be wondering how such an awesome dog has come to be back with GSRA. Yes that's right&mdashback. You see Gordon was adopted from GSRA several years ago and was very happy. But then changes in the family's circumstances made it not a good situation for him anymore and they made the heart-breaking decision to return him to us. This was hard for the family and hard for Gordon but dogs live in the moment and Gordon has adapted easily to life in his foster home. He really really wants his next home to be his forever one though. Would that home be with you?
