CHANCE ~7years old. Good with dogs. Kids and cats TBD. Needs companion animal.GSRA adopts to residents of VA NC and SC only.Chance's life creed is &lsquoI want to do right but I need some help in knowing what right is'! Chance was found on the side of the road weighing only 31-40 Pounds and barely alive yet she still lifted her head to gently greet the young couple that stopped to check on her. She's living her second chance to the fullest but needs a little direction from an attentive owner to show her the right way! For a dog that was on the brink of starvation she has remarkably no food aggression but gets excited when treats or food are present. She was not initially housetrained however over the course of a single month has shown incredible improvement. Sometimes she gets a little confused when the house environment changes but she is eager to please. She is crate trained and will do her best to keep her crate clean. She is a great walker and will literally eat up leash training. She loves to greet other dogs and will match play based on their behavior. She is the same with people and with her incredibly sweet disposition has yet to meet a stranger! Her reactions to small children and cats are still unknown. She is very interested in farm animals specifically chickens and will give chase. On walks she will notice and be attentive towards smaller animals like squirrels but does not bolt. She is pretty quiet and while she has only barked while playing with other dogs she is not shy about sharing her opinions! An ideal family for her would be one that could mentally challenge her (she loves training) keep her socially engaged (loves meeting people and dogs alike) and help her stay active (she has some energy to burn). She would do well with other dogs already in the house and likely would enjoy having a playmate. An adopter will need to be willing to wait until Chance is medically cleared before she can head to her new home.
