Casey is a young German Shepherd with a whole story still ahead of her, and GSRA is thrilled to be part of it. She came into GSRA's care from a shelter, and from the moment her foster brought her home she has been soaking up love, learning the ropes, and settling into life as somebody's dog.
She is still very much a kid, full of energy and curiosity, and she is picking up her manners quickly. Casey already sits like a pro, especially when meals or treats are on the line, and she is working through paw, down, off, stay, and her recall. She is house trained with no accidents so far, comfortable in her crate, and quiet through the night, though she will happily announce when the alarm goes off and she is ready to start her day. On leash she is a joy, taking in every smell and sound.
Casey adores her people. She is the kind of dog who lays right at your side and is always angling for a snuggle, and being close to her humans is genuinely where she is happiest. That devotion comes with a work in progress: when she is left alone she gets anxious and will counter surf or find something to take apart to cope. She is learning, but for now she will do best with someone who can keep counters clear and who is around often enough to help her build confidence on her own.
On the health front, Casey is a little underweight and building her muscle tone with good food and time. She is up to date on her monthly heartworm and flea and tick prevention, still needs to be spayed, and is healing a minor skin irritation on her back with some gentle care. None of it slows her down one bit.
