ARGUS ~3 years old. Good with dogs. Kids and cats TBD.GSRA adopts to residents of VA NC and SC only.Dear Diary: Argus here. I am looking for that special someone - do you think they are out there? I have been here with my foster mom and foster fur sister for 2 weeks now and I am really starting to let them see my personality. I am a BIG boy - I should weigh about 95-100 lbs. but right now I'm only at 70 lbs. Foster mom is working on fattening me up. My coat will be luxurious as I get healthy - I have handsome dark markings - I turn a lot of heads.I am very quiet in the house and yard - if I bark there is a reason. And people pay attention because I have a BIG bark! I will make you feel very safe. When I first got here I had to make sure I chased away any low-flying planes or helicopters - this is my yard after all! But now I don't care about them. Now my primary job is to patrol the yard for those pesky grey things that like to live in trees. I spend hours outside staring up into the trees. There are dogs in the yard next door but I don't pay them any mind. Squirrels take priority over everything. As I am getting more comfortable here I am beginning to take an interest in some toys and bones. I am a bit of a hoarder. My favorite toy (a sloth) and two bones are in my crate with me. I sleep in with foster mom on a blanket and when I get up I go to my crate to make sure my precious things are still in there. I still don't really play with my foster sister much but medium to large siblings would probably be best because my paws are huge and I can be rough without meaning to. And if they are confident when out and about that helps me a ton - I take a lot of cues from my foster sister about what's safe and ok in a big scary world. My foster mom and sister like to go adventuring. They take me in the car different places. At first I was terrified. But foster mom tried putting the seats down so I could lay in the back and that helped a ton! Now I am much more comfortable in the car and it will continue to improve with practice and fun destinations. If you leave me in the car I am very quiet and just look at everything. We have explored different greenways and walked up to 5 miles and I enjoyed every minute of it. I do have to be reminded that I'm on a leash and so I'm not to chase squirrels. Dang!Foster mom is starting to work with me on things like sitting at corners now that I am settling in more but I needed a couple weeks before my brain could comprehend listening so a patient family will be rewarded.I will stay quietly in my crate - foster mom showed me it is a place for good things like food and rest so I don't mind going in there. She lets me have free roam in a limited area of the house when she is gone for short periods and I have been good. I would probably help myself to something good on the counter but she makes sure not to leave anything out or about that I might be interested in so I can be the goodest boy without much effort. As I have relaxed here and learned that I will be ok I have become more affectionate - I like to have my head rubbed and my butt! I am the typical reserved boy so I don't wag my tail a ton or get overly mushy - yuck! But I like attention and will shove my little foster sister out of the way to make sure I'm getting pets too. When I am out and about I am cautious and reserved but people can approach me quietly - I seem to like men quite a bit.So Diary what do you think? Do you think the right person or family is out there for me? Someone who will realize changing homes is a bit stressful and so I might not let them see the real Argus the first day or even week? But if they are looking for a quiet handsome boy (I literally stop traffic!) who will be a clown and a loyal companion I'm the guy.
