ACHILLES ~5 years old. Good with dogs and cats. Kids TBD. Good with farm animals. GSRA Adopts in NC SC & VA ONLYWhat's happening everybody?? My name is Achilles and I am one laid back dude. For starters I am a dog by committee" as my foster mom likes to say. I'm mostly German Shepherd but am a little smaller and my ears don't stand up all the way. I'm mostly all tan but that's probably because I love to lay in the grass and soak up the sun.I like to chase soccer balls with my foster sister Phoebe but she brings the ball back not me. I love it when my foster mom pets me. She says my fur is so soft that she could pet me all day and I would be totally cool with that. I like to go on walks but not too long because I get tired! I like to bark at squirrels too a lot! My first owner had horses so I'm cool with them and my current foster mom has 2 fuzzy cats but they don't bother me and I don't bother them! My foster sister Phoebe is a German Shepherd and we are buddies. My first owner had a giant schnauzer and a boxer so I am fine with other dogs as well. Now you can't be too cautious so when I first meet you I might not want to immediately come up and say 'Hi'. As soon as I think you're ok we will be the best of friends. I warmed up to my foster mom faster than I did to my foster dad at first but now my foster dad is my buddy. I really like getting up on the couch and the bed but for some reason my foster mom keeps telling me "no".My foster sister Phoebe likes to follow people from room to room but that's not my scene. I'm independent. I'll wander off and go exploring randomly through the house. I do really well on a leash and my foster mom won't let me off leash unless the area is fenced because I really want to get the squirrels! I love car rides and sniffing the air as we drive down the road. My foster mom keeps telling me how cute I am when I wag my tail. Apparently my whole butt wiggles and if I'm sitting I sweep the floor. I'm looking for a forever home with another dog to be my partner in crime a fluffy bed and grass to roll in. From the foster mom: Much of Achilles past is unknown but I want his future to be the best it can be. He was surrendered due to financial constraints on his previous owner but I can tell that he was well taken care of. He is really laid back considering how much he has gone through in the past month. He is a bit chatty when he's out in the yard but he does not bark inside. Achilles knows how to sit high five give us his paw and stay...sometimes. We are working on reinforcing the training. Most importantly we are working on recall training with him. He can focus on something and completely ignore us to go chase a squirrel ( or a leaf...) but that's something that can be easily fixed with training and reinforcement. He's stingy about treats. Sometimes he wants them sometimes he doesn't and I haven't figured out a correlation yet.Overall Achilles is a great dog!! :)"
