Hi there! My name is Chester, and I’m a big, happy German Shepherd boy who’s ready for a fresh start with a forever family.
I’m a friendly guy who warms up quickly. When people come to meet me, I check them out for a second and then I’m all in: pets, ear rubs, feet touches, and even gentle handling like checking my teeth. I’m affectionate, cooperative, and I really enjoy being close to my people.
I am a working line GSD and will require someone with breed experience and the energy to keep up. Without leadership, I will make my own rules and my foster mom says that my rules are not the best thought out rules.
Let’s be honest… I’m not much of a kibble connoisseur. Kibble is fine, but have you ever had cheese? CHEESE is the greatest invention of all time. I take treats gently, and I do not guard my food.
I LOVE stuffies, and I’m not shy about it. I’ve got a whole friend group, and yes, they’re part of the package deal.
First is Lambchop, my absolute bestie. I actually have two, a big Lambchop and a little Lambchop, because one Lambchop is simply not enough. Then there’s Mr. Squiggley, who is ridiculously fun and always down for an adventure.
And finally… Monty the Mastodon.
Listen. Monty is trouble. Like, “how did we end up in timeout again” trouble. Foster Mom says I make up dumb rules and then blame Monty, but I’m just saying… Monty is a BAD influence. The worst. A menace. A legend.
But he’s my friend, and I love him, so he’s staying.
I like them! I met a female dog and was polite and respectful. I also met a male dog named Sabre through the fence and did the classic play-bow with tail wags. We then walked together on leashes and I stayed calm, friendly, and social. No aggression from me—just a lot of “Want to be friends?”
I know how to sit (and yes, I’m proud). I’m still learning other commands and polite manners, and because I’m big and strong, I’ll do best with continued training and consistency. I’m smart, eager, and I want to learn—I just need someone to teach me.
I may have a little anxiety in new or noisy environments, which isn’t unusual. What helps most is having a steady person nearby—I’m eager to bond closely with “my human.”
I’m a sweet, playful, people-loving shepherd with a gentle heart and a goofy love of balls (and cheese). I’m ready to settle into a home where I can feel safe, learn the rules, and be someone’s loyal shadow.
If you’re looking for a best friend who will bring you laughter, devotion, and daily ball-retrieval services, I might be your guy.
