Willow is a 2-year-old white German Shepherd with a gentle heart who is still learning to trust the world around her. She has spent her entire life on one property with very little exposure to new places, people, or dogs. Because of this, Willow can be skittish at first and prefers to hang back until she feels safe. With patience and a calm environment, she begins to relax and show her sweet nature.
During her assessment, Willow accepted gentle handling from head to tail despite being nervous. She was not highly food-motivated but did eat when encouraged, and she showed no issues with people or even cats sharing her food space. Willow has lived peacefully in a home environment, is house-trained, and has never been crated.
With other dogs, Willow is fearful and uncertain. She was vocal during introductions and gave a quick snap at a female dog before retreating. She showed slightly more interest in a male but remained very nervous. Willow would do best in a home with either no other dogs or with a calm, confident dog who can help model good behavior and allow for very slow introductions. She is not recommended for homes with small children at this time, but she has been around many cats and did very well with them.
Willow has not received formal training and has had little leash experience, so she will need guidance to learn the basics. She is not spayed and may not be current on vaccines or preventatives. Fleas were observed at assessment.
This beautiful girl has great potential to become a devoted companion once she gains confidence and learns the world is not such a scary place. With time, structure, and a patient adopter, Willow will flourish and reveal the sweet and loving dog she truly is.
