AMELIA ~1-2 years old. Good with kids dogs and cats. Good for seniors/elderly. Needs a companion animal.GSRA adopts to residents of VA NC and SC onlyMeet Amelia! She was named after the courageous Amelia Earhart because this little girl needs a little extra courage. She will take a couple days to warm up to you but after that she will be your best friend. Amelia is a very sweet dog but is terrified of a broom. The vacuum however doesn't bother her. I believe the more experience she has out in the big world the less she will be afraid. She is good with cats as long as the cats don't run. If you have a cat and you are considering Amelia you have to be willing to train her to leave it alone when it moves. She came from a household that had very young children so I expect she will be good with all children. Amelia would also do well with seniors. She does very well with other dogs. Amelia would do best in a household with a confident dog companion. She is quiet and content in the house - she loves to just mellow out with a chew toy. But outside in the yard Amelia is full-on dog! For this reason she needs a fenced yard or an owner who runs or is willing to take her to the dog park.Amelia is a small German Shepherd dog. I believe her weight will top out around 45 to 41-50 Pounds. She is a very picky eater. She will not eat dry kibble unless there is canned food on it. I put about a tablespoon of canned food on her dry kibble and she eats it all. She is a very quick learner so she'll be very easy to train and she also corrects very easily. She is quiet in her crate until you leave the house then she barks and although we are working on this I do not think she will be apartment-appropriate.
