I've found my furever family!

WALLY ~1 year old. Good with older considerate children and dogs. Cautious with cats does want to chase and play. Needs a companion animal.GSRA adopts to residents of VA NC and SC only.I am foxy boy with a lot of energy who wants to be part of your pack. I bark like a Shepherd and I am smart like a Shepherd and I have lots of cuteness going on!Oh Yes I am totally a puppy. I love to play and be free to &ldquozoom&rdquo around the yard. I play fetch and even bring the toy back to my foster mom or dad! I like all kinds of toys squeaky toys tug-of-war toys tennis balls. But beware I love to chew on toys or bones or rawhides so keep a supply of chew toys at the ready. If a chew toy is not around beware that I can get a little mouthy with a soft touch but I won't try to bite you. My foster parents are working with me to stop being mouthy but don't forget I still have a lot of puppy in me.I am pretty quick to learn. My foster mom & dad are working on my basic commands and I'm getting the hang of it when rewarded with a yummy treat. I'm also learning to walk better on leash. I am pulling less and learning to &ldquoheel&rdquo but not so much when I see a squirrel or deer.If I meet you in the street or in my foster home I'll probably bark at you until I sniff you at my own term. After my sniffing is done I'll then be happy when you pet me but my foster parents are working on introducing me to people without a bark or two. I am crate trained and will sleep in it at night but I also will sleep on a dog bed on the floor or your bed if you let me.So stock up on some toys and let me come into your home!From Wally's Foster Parents:Wally is very much a puppy because he wants to play most of the day but he does take a couple of naps to build up his energy again. As with all dogs his current high energy will dwindle as he gets older. Wally will give you many licks if you let him but when he plays he very lightly &ldquomouths&rdquo and at times he runs full speed and could bump into you for that reason we think that Wally would be a better fit without small children. We are working to lessen and stop the mouthing but not there yet. Wally has played with a couple of other dogs in a friendly manner but at times walking through the neighborhood he barks at other dogs with his hackles up. We are also working with him to keep walking or to sit until another dog passes. We think Wally would be great with the right companion dog that would also help to drain some of his high energy.Wally is housebroken and will sleep through the night. After looking at internet comparison photos we believe that Wally is more of an Australian Cattle Dog but still has some German Shepherd looks and of course smartness. He is a medium size dog and currently about 48 LBS which should be his top weight.Wally currently goes on many walks during the day and is left off-leash in a fenced backyard that allows him to &ldquozoom&rdquo and relieve some energy a few times a day. We would want to place Wally with a family who can let him run or again play with a friendly or companion dog. Due to Wally's speed we think he would be great at an &ldquoAgility&rdquo course if trained.
