Mooky
Mooky came into our family as a very timid and insecure dog, and her time with us was WAY too short. During the 5 years that we had her, however, her personality truly grew, and she blossomed into a sweet, loving, incredible family companion. She accompanied us everywhere, from sleeping at the foot our our bed; laying by the dinner table; perched on the landing of our stairs to watch both levels; taking and picking up kids from school; and always playing outside with all the kids in the neighborhood. From the first day we got her from the rescue, she never spent the night alone or boarded. Mooky was everything from a running companion to me, to a companion to curl up with to watch movies on a winter's day. Although, she never completely grew out of some of her insecurities and timidity, Mooky had five wonderful years with our family. Her heart's desire was to just be with you and do whatever she could to please you. I hope you enjoy the pictures, but there is no way they will capture her sincere love.

Sadly, her past is what ended her life early. She had originally been diagnosed with pneumonia by our vet. But after a week of antibiotics and treatment, her condition worsened. She got to where she could hardly breath very late the night before returning to the vet. Before we could get her in the car to go to the emergency vet, she led me to the front yard and lay down, gasping for breath. Fittingly, she died in my arms. Our vet asked to conduct a necropsy, which we agreed to. According to him, Mooky had suffered some sort of violent trauma early in her life before being rescued which had caused her lungs to collapse. They never fully re-inflated, and therefore, continuously closed and developed scar tissue over the next 5 years (which explains why I had to quit running with her). The vet said that at the end of her life, she was only living with 15-20% of her lung capacity.

We wanted to help a dog by rescuing one, but Mooky ended up helping us. Our family grew so much during our time with her, and most of our memories involve her. From family walks, to raking leaves, to snowball fights, Mooky was always with us and right by our sides. There will NEVER be another Mooky. We sure miss our "Mookers."

Morgan
Our faithful Morgan left us today. She gave us 14 years of love, smiles, tears, and yes, frustration! She was a very strong willed shepard who was a force in our home. She will be missed.
