A farm dog, a loyal friend, my protector. He had his moments like when he'd bark and nip at the horses behinds and we'd have to lock him up in a horse stall, or went after our goats when they got loose...but he also had his moments where he'd put his head on my pillow and sleep next to me, or follow me everywhere, or sit in the corner of the stall as I mucked them out. He was my first true friend, he understood me better than anyone, and when I had to leave the farm to go to my other home during the week, he always broke my heart with the look on his face when he saw I was leaving. But I always came back at the end of the week, and the joy he had when I returned...there's nothing to compare. Though I couldn't be there when he passed, he's always in my heart and I can't wait to see him again. Me and My husband got Jake in 1996. He was our firstborn child. Jake was an awesome German Shepherd. Smart, protective, gentle and full of life. He was great with our children. Very cautious to keep them in their boundary when they would play in the yard. He even killed a snake protecting our daughter Taylor one summer. He was a special boy! He loved to eat the figs off the fig tree he is standing beside. He was so funny because he knew just when they were ready to eat. We would go out there and the figs at the bottom of the tree would be gone! Jake loved to eat them! One summer, he waited til my tomatoes were ripe enough to be picked and he ate those fresh out of the garden as well. He lived a full life of almost 13. We miss him and love him dearly. He is always thought about. Thanks to Jake, he is the reason why we help with German Shepherd Rescue. His passing gave us the ablility to help other German Shepherds that need homes. We love you Jake Tracey, Chris, Taylor, Christyn and Cole Campbell You guys helped us find Jake 12 years ago through a rescue in South Carolina when we submitted an adoption application. Someone had called that day about a 6 month old puppy that needed a home. That ended up being Jake. We had him for 12 great years, but unfortunately we had to let him pass today due to a ruptured disc and degenerative disc disease. Just wanted to thank you. I have attached a picture for your memorial wall on your website. Thank you again. It is with sadness that I let you know Josie lost her battle to degenerative mylopothy. We had 9 wonderful years with Josie all filled with joy and laughter thanks to her amazing spirit and personality. She was a gentle soul full of unconditional love. I adopted Josie in 1996 when I was five years out of college. We think Josie was 3 or 4 when I adopted her and boy was she an active girl!! We took long walks daily together, played Frisbee, and at the end of every night she would fall asleep at the foot of my bed. In 1999, Josie and I met Kyle who soon became her other parent in 2001. Several years later we adopted another Shepherd named Sadie and Josie was so thrilled to have a canine sibling! Three months before her death her human sibling finally arrived, Catherine. I had asked Jo to hang on and said a prayer one night that it was my greatest wish that she meet my first born child. And she did. It was such a joy to see how gentle, calm, and loving she was around this tiny little infant weighing only 6 pounds at birth. Josie was and will always be in our hearts. She was the perfect balance between Rin Tin Tin and Lassie. We feel blessed to have had her in our lives and miss her dearly. Thanks to all involved with German Shepherd Rescue for all that you do and for bringing this special creature into our lives. It is with great sadness that we had to say goodbye to our beautiful Josie this Spring. She was fighting so many health ailments we knew it was best to send her up to the Heaven's. She was a great girl, loved her tennis ball and loved to roll in the fresh cut green grass. Her nick name was our "Green Irish Shepherd". She is missed by her pack members Deacon and Barrett but they keep her tennis balls close to their hearts. We love you Jose - rest in peace our girl. Click a letter to find an animal or view all.
