Mikey has been the love of my life for 11 years. He is a strong willed, social, calm and quiet boy. If he barks, there is a reason. He has been trained to heel and when we walk anywhere, I am told what a beautiful dog he is. He walks up to most people expecting them to love on him. He instinctively knows to be gentle with children and puppies and usually watches at the dog park preferring to stay by his owner.
Mikey is very smart, as you would expect. He has slowed down some, but no one can believe he is 11 years old. He grew up with a doggie door and would never think of going potty in the house. After moving to the big city, he has shown some weakness in his back legs from walking up hills. We are on the fourth floor and I see him struggling on the steps a bit. I want him to have a good life in his later years and I cannot provide that for him.
Mikey loves men and should have a strong master to keep him in check. He is possessive of food and would be better in an environment that is routine and calm. He will sit for his dinner. He has eaten dry food his entire life and has very good teeth as a result. Has been on heartworm meds all his life. If you have time to be with Mikey, he will lay at your feet and be content to be near you. He would not like to be away from his loved ones if they are inside the house. Please contact me if you can give a great, loyal friend some peace in his later years. You will fall in love with Mikey.
