OZZIE ~6-8 years old.  Good with older considerate children and dogs.  Good with farm animals.  Not good with cats or small dogs.

GSRA Adopts in VA, NC, and SC ONLY

The Ozzman cometh!! Well, sort of, meet Ozzie, a beautiful 6-8 year old shepherd who was sprung from a local shelter as so many are these days. Besides being drop dead gorgeous Ozzie is almost as perfect as a dog can get, he gets along great with other dogs, people, and he even likes cats. Now he is quite a herder and currently tries to herd the resident 6 year old son so Ozzie would do best in a home with older children that aren’t quite so easy to push around. Ozzie has no idea how big he is, and does not realize that folks may get nervous if a 98 lb dogs comes barreling their way.  He is also a howler, he loves to sing the song of his people especially if he hears a siren outside!  Ozzie would also do best with owners who have past Shepherd experience and are good leaders, a consistent handler will find his enthusiasm for all that life has to offer exhilarating.

Ozzie greets everyone he sees with his tail wagging just wanting some love and attention. He may not be up for the marathon scene, but regular exercise for both the mind and body will bring out the best GSD in him. Ozzie is house and crate trained but could use some manners, an obedience class would be a perfect way to help him learn what you want out of him, he’s a quick study and takes corrections very easily.   He still pulls at the leash and his foster family is working on this.

Ozzie is neutered and up to date on vaccines but unfortunately he is heartworm positive, no worries though as the rescue will treat him once we find him his perfect home and he gets settled in. His current situation just isn’t setup to keep his activity level low enough for treatment right now.

Be forewarned though that if you are out and about with Ozzie, you will get stopped and folks will want to meet him.  Doesn't matter if it's the middle of the street or on a Park Trail, he is a sure head turner!
