~4 years old.  Good with older considerate kids, dogs and cats.

"I am a champion and you're gonna hear me ROAR!" Leo, lion, roar...one part is a stretch...the ROAR. Leo has been with me for three weeks now, and I have yet to hear him roar, or bark. But he is most certainly a champion!

Leo was wandering the streets of Durham, placed in the county shelter, and then rescued by GSRA. He is a friendly boy who now knows the comfort of regular meals, a warm bed, siblings to play with, and parents who love him.

The most accurate description of him is that he is a four year old puppy. He is energetic, happy, and house-trained; the puppy part comes in with his desire to jump on you, or hold your hand in his mouth. Cute in a puppy, but not a four year old. He is a smart cookie, and is easily corrected when he exhibits these behaviors. Consistency is the key in eliminating them. So, for you that means no petting him, no paying him attention when he does this. He is learning if he wants your attention, he has to sit to get petted. That is where the consistency on your part comes in, no petting him until he sits for it. He catches on quickly and is motivated by food & praise. All he wants is to please his people.

He enjoys a good walk around the neighborhood, and is superb on a leash. He is also respectful of other animals in the household, and wants to be a member of the pack.

Leo is simply a smart, curious boy who needs someone willing to teach him the proper way to be a good citizen.
