Mena - 10 months old. Good with older considerate children, large and small dogs and cats (when introduced carefully).
HI! My name is Mena and I am really excited about finding my forever family. Before I was a GSRA girl, I spent a little time in a place called Animal Protection Society of Durham (wow that's a mouthful for a little girl like me). All the staff fell in love with me and there was a long line of people to say goodbye before I left. Everything in life is new to me right now; all the sounds, little animals running and climbing trees and people that are moving around when I'm outside walking with my foster mom and foster furry sister. They tell me that I'm pretty and I love to play with all sizes of dogs and people we meet every day. When I first got to this nice house where I'm staying, I just chewed on everything because I thought if it's within my reach it's a toy right? Then I learned from my foster mom that things like shoes and TV remote controls aren't toys for me to chew. I learn quickly but sometimes I forget when I see something that I really wanna chew. When my foster family is tired I can find a tennis ball toy and amuse myself by throwing it in the air and running after it. I am a good eater and like to drink water and I'll share with you if you want. Here's a few words from my foster mom...
It was really easy to fall in love with Mena; she's beautiful, affectionate, eager to learn and very social with dogs and people. She's house and crate trained. She was picked up as a stray so we don't know anything about her life before she was found. Mena loves to play with other dogs; however, needs some direction either from her furry foster sister or myself to calm her play down a little bit. She didn't know any commands, so we are working on sit and wait at the door before going out for a walk and she is learning quickly!! Mena needs someone who is willing to take her to formal obedience training classes, which will be great for bonding and socialization. She is still a puppy and needs lots of appropriate toys available for her to chew on. She rides well in the car lying in the back or sitting up and watching out the window. She would do well with a fenced yard but if you don't have one just be ready to provide her with lots of exercise!! Mena would enjoy having a companion animal of similar age, but may also do well as an only dog, if she had lots of play times and exercise. Mena is ready to join your family if she sounds like a good fit. What do you think?
More about Mena
Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Older/Considerate Kids Only
Special Needs: Would do better with a companion animal. Require someone that will commit to formal obedience training classes!
She is very interested in squirrels and rabbits and deer that we see while we're walking so she needs to be watched carefully for her prey drive.
