SPIDER ~2 years old. Good with older considerate children. Cats TBD. Not good with dogs. Apartment appropriate. Spider is a teenager, at just over two years old, and very ready for the world at large. He is confident and cheerful, with just the right amount of squeeze-factor to make you forget any of his puppy antics. Spider is definitely looking for love. He has nothing but tail wags, kisses and full body wiggles for humans. With other dogs Spider is pretty clumsy, and bounces and jumps like a flea when he engages them in play. He is definitely a ladies man and prefers to be the only heart throb on the scene. Ideally we think he’d like a friend to play with, but she’d have to have just the right personality to match with Spider’s unique play style. Alternatively, if his parents were active and spent a lot of time with him, Spider could easily adapt to being an only child. After all, it really is all about how many belly and butt rubs he can fit into a day. When Spider is not climbing into his human’s lab for a full body hug, he’s playing with his favorite ball, chasing squirrels, playing in water (rivers, wading pools, puddles!) or looking for toads. Spider has a child-like curiosity that makes spending time with him a joy. Anything can be made into a game when you have Spider’s sense of fun. Often times he will make up his own goofy games, tossing his ball around, pouncing on it, but always checking to make sure you are watching. He is also prone to the “zoomies” – taking off around the yard like a boy possessed, only to land at your feet, exhausted, tongue hanging out the side of his mouth, grinning like a fool. Along with Spider’s sense of fun and puppy antics comes the usual puppy trials and tribulations. Everything is a potential chew toy to Spider: shoes, remote controls, phones, dog beds. He is eager to please, and so corrects easily, but in a home full of tempting chew items it can be a full time job keeping things in one piece. However, once he is convinced that a bone or a ball is better than a throw pillow, he will settle along side you on the couch and chew for hours – checking in periodically to make sure you remember how cuddly and positively kissable he is. Spider is an optimistic little guy. He wakes up every morning ready to rock and roll – sure that the day will bring only good things. His enthusiasm for life is infectious. When you meet him, you will fall in love. When he meets you, his forever family, he will be in heaven on earth.
