Are you looking for a young, very sweet, petite, low-maintenance female GSD mix? If so, meet Trudy!!!  As usual, we do not know about Trudy’s early life. What we do know is that Trudy showed up on a guardian Angel’s front porch in early April. The guardian Angel made every effort to find Trudy’s owners, with no success.  Knowing that she couldn’t keep Trudy, the guardian Angel reached out to GSRA.
I went and assessed Trudy and brought her home to foster her. She is very friendly, maybe a little bit too friendly, she loves jumping up on her humans. Trudy loves attention, loves being petted and getting belly rubs although she's not a velcro dog.  For one of the weeks she was here at the Puppy Palace, Trudy had little 4 month old foster sister, Mindy, staying with us temporarily. Trudy loved running and playing with Mindy. Since Mindy went back to her foster home, Trudy has been here with my 3 older, bigger female GSDs. Trudy is very respectful of them. Trudy likes to run and play in the fenced-in backyard.

Tonight Trudy and I played fetch.  She did very well, retrieving the ball & dropping it when I said “drop it”. Trudy does OK leash-walking but definitely could use additional training. She also needs training on her indoors manners, especially her jumping on humans.  She has improved significantly with me, but still needs training with others. She also has a tendency to counter -surf. She participated in our Cinco de Mayo festivities by helping herself to a bowl of shredded cheese!! Trudy is very alert to strange sounds & barks appropriately.
Trudy is somewhat spoiled; she likes to lay on the couch with me while I watch TV and she sleeps on my bed with me.  I think the ideal home for Trudy is one that will provide very good training for her, one that will have a fenced-in backyard so that Trudy can run and play, and one that will give Trudy the attention that she desires.  I think she will do well with or without another dog.
