Ruby came to GSRA at 3 months old from a shelter with her two sisters. Although all three were a bit shy, Ruby was by far the shyest. It took her months to feel comfortable near humans, but luckily, she has great foster siblings to comfort her and show her the ropes… don’t let that fool you… she is still a smarty pants! She has been house trained since she arrived and once she started trusting her foster momma & learning commands by watching the other dogs, she had no problem sitting for a cookie!
Ruby earned herself the nickname “Houdini” as she can magically sneak toys away from foster siblings, hide and not be found until she wants to be (the word “cookie” works for that!), and somehow manages to get through two doggie gates and a door just to “check on” mommies shoes. Ruby also loves to dig, and dig, and dig… when others are chewing on their rawhide, Ruby is in the back yard burying hers… after all, she knows she can magically take one of her siblings! Occasionally, she finds “presents” in the yard to bring to momma – her favorite being the dead mouse she left right on momma’s spot of the bed, earning her the nickname “mouser”.
Ruby has stopped growing at about 30 pounds but is all GSD - smart, protective, and just as sweet as she can be.
