~6.5 years old. Good with cats, older considerate children and dogs of all shapes and sizes.

Meet Lexus. Lexus is about 6 or 7 years old and is a beautiful black and silver bi-color girl. She was surrendered to the shelter by her owners who were moving and could not take her with them.

Lexus is 100% housetrained and crate trained and can be left loose in the house while you are away as she has never chewed anything or had one single accident. Lexus has the typical traits of a GSD. She is aloof with new people but once she trusts you, you are a pack member for life!! Lexus will need a good pack leader that can show her that the world is a great place.  Once she "moves in" she'll be a nice watchdog if you prefer.  She will bark at strangers, but is easily "turned off" when you ask. Like any shepherd, she needs someone to give her rules and structure so she feels secure in her own skin.

Now that Lexus is settled in her foster home, her true personality shines. She has got one killer arm nudge when she wants a pet and is quite strategic to place her head right under your hand as you are standing around!  She is goofy and happy, and has started to investigate toys. She has other dogs in her foster home, both large and small, and she seems to find comfort being a part of the pack. She could also fly solo as an only dog as well.  She joins in a good game of chase when the pack starts playing, but overall she just enjoys their company. Lexus also shares her foster home with a cat that she doesn’t pay much attention to.

Lexus’ foster mom is a dog trainer so she takes Lexus to classes and on outings to expose her to new things. She’s learning that the world out there isn’t all that bad. She has come to LOVE walks, car rides, and outings with her foster mom.  You should hear her squeal and jump with excitement when the leash comes out!  Lexus walks beautifully on leash and is a lovely all day companion wherever you'd care to go!   Walks and outings are key to solidify that bond between her and her human. Lexus has the perfect energy level in that she'll walk and play when you want, but is to content to lay at your feet or on a dog bed when its time to settle down.  What more could you ask for?!?!

Lexus is a special girl and you must be patient to earn her affection, but she is well worth the work! If you give her the time and effort, she’s going to be your best friend for life, hands down! If you’re looking for a social butterfly, Lexus doesn’t quite fit that bill, and probably never will. But if you’re looking for your next best bud…look no further!!
