German Shepherd Dog (medium coat) : : Male (neutered) : : Adult
Jonah - 3-4 years old. Good with Kids, dogs and cats. Needs a companion animal. Jonah was dumped at the pound (probably by his owners!) weighing in at a whopping 128 pounds!! There are German Shepherds big enough to pull off all that weight and still look good, he is NOT one of them. His chest was saggy, his tummy and butt jiggled like Santa's' and he had very little muscle. He should weigh about 95-100lbs for his frame. He is sweet as a teddy bear but head strong, used to going and doing what ever he wanted. We are working on all of this! He is neutered, house/cratetrained, heartworm negative, good with my 6 dogs and 5 cats and just a love bug (if bugs came in 128 lb size)! He is learning everything from door manners to leash manners with great enthusiasm! He loves running in the back yard with the other dogs and then flopping down for a nap on his bed. He is already tighter, more muscular and lighter than when we got him. He rides okay in the car but I would not say he enjoys it. I think a lot of this will change for him when he gets to his proper weight. He will have more energy and hopefully be more nimble. He came with some separation and crate issues that seemed to have disappeared with the structure of my home and the presence of the other dogs. For these reasons he must go to a home with other dogs. Jonah is warm, funny, sweet, nosy and bright. He would be a wonderful addition to an active pack that will keep him active and losing the weight till it's gone. Jonah is looking forward to meeting his new friends!!
