~8 months old.  Good with older considerate children and dogs.  Cats TBD.  Needs a companion animal.

Happy, happy, happy! That’s what Erin (fka Jane) is today! But life hasn’t always been good for this 8 month old. You see Erin’s front leg was injured back in September and her owner never took Erin to the vet; the leg became infected and then tissue died from the infection.  So her owner dropped her at a shelter. But then GSRA came to the rescue. We pulled Erin from the shelter and took her to one of our veterinarians who after thorough examination determined that her leg should be amputated. Erin responded very well to the surgery, full of energy and having great mobility. Erin may never run a marathon but I bet she can beat you in a 25 yard dash. The only thing that Erin is afraid of trying, is a full flight of hardwood stairs. She does great on the deck stairs. Erin loves running in the backyard & for the last week has totally enjoyed playing with her new little foster brother Dillon. Since she has been with GSRA, Erin has spent most of her time either with her foster mom, even going to work with her, or with several other dogs. Erin is very attentive to strange noises, both inside and out, and alerts her humans to the noises by barking. Erin is crate-trained, eating there and sleeping through the night. Erin does OK with leash – walking, although she needs additional training. She has pretty good pup manners but would still benefit from obedience training. Erin is patient waiting for food and sits when it is ready.

I think the ideal family for Erin is one that has another dog for Erin to play with.
