~1.5 years old.  Good with kids and dogs.  Cats TBD.  Would likely be happiest with a companion dog but would also do very well as an only dog for a person or family who is home more often than not.

Rockie is a 1.5 to 2 year old petite, sable, female GSD. She is extremely intelligent and was able to potty train in about 48 hours. She had never seen a ball or a toy before she got to me and over the course of a day or two she learned to love to play ball and run and play with her toys! She's so funny, she likes her water with ice in it during the hotter days and she likes to 'bob for ice cubes' and chew on them. She was pretty thin when I got her but she's put on 11 pounds since I've had her. She still needs to gain a little more weight but her healthy appetite should not allow that to be a problem. She is food motivated and toy motivated and I would be happy to work with any adoptive parents on her training techniques with her ball.

She is super sweet and likes to be close to us in the house. I've taught her not to get on the furniture but that's something her adoptive family can choose to change if they like. Rockie's got a LOT of energy and needs to run and play several times a day - this will change as she gets older. She also seems happiest when she's around other dogs who will play with her.

Are you ready to make a petite, young, super-duper smart girl who knows her obedience a part of your family? If you fit the criteria, she's ready to meet you!

Rockie's Mini-Diary

6/16/12: Today I got to go on a long car ride with my foster Mom. We went to this cool place where I got to meet other dogs and my foster brother introduced me to the dogs and people. He said they were all 'trainers' like our Mom and they gave me SO much attention and told me how very smart I am! It was so much fun to do what I was told and then the others would clap and cheer and I'd get to get lots of belly rubs. I had so much fun that I slept the WHOLE way home in the car.

6/23/12: I had my very first real vet visit today! My foster Mom took me to this really nice place where people told me how pretty I was and gave me treats. They were mighty tasty! I really wanted to play with the other dogs in the waiting area, but my Mom just smiled and sai, "Rockie, not everyone wants to play with us all the time. Let's hang tight and we'll play with your brother when we get home!" So I just sat on the bench with her until it was our turn to go into the little closet-room thingie. My Mom distracted me with my favorite toy while the Vet gave me an exam. They said I am look very healthy and am well behaved! WOO!

6/24/12: My Foster Mom brought home a BIG doggie pool today and filled it up for me and my foster brother to play in! Mom laughs at us and calls us silly dogs and I like to hear people laugh so it just made me sillier. I thought it was fun to take my toys in the pool and jump around with them. My foster brother prefers to chase the water from the hose or sprinkler, but even he got in with me after a while! It was so much fun! After we got finished playing in the pool and took a short nap, we went back outside to play some more. Mom's friend got out a large ball and started bouncing it on the driveway. OH MAN! I wanted that BALL! I jumped, ran, dove and did all sorts of acrobatics playing with Mr. Friend and his ball! I got it away from him a few times and bumped it around with my nose. It was a super great day. I hope I don't snore tonight.

7/4/12: I was not a fan of the sounds coming from the sky tonight at first. I heard the loud bangs when we went outside for a potty and got scared. My Foster Mom told me it was OK and rubbed my head so I wouldn't be afraid anymore and then I was able to do my business outside.

7/5/12: I LOVE MEETING NEW DOGS AND PEOPLE! Foster Mom tells me I am a social butterfly, whatever that means. I met a very nice man at the park this morning who said I looked like a dog he used to have and then loved on me a lot. I liked the nice man and the attention!

7/6/12: I got hollered at today. I was chasing these black and yellow bugs that fly outside and pawing at them - I thought Foster Mom was going to have a fit! She told me that those pretty bugs can hurt me with their stingers and she that she was protecting me. I appreciated being protected so I licked her face...and then jumped in the pool!
