My name is Raven, and I am a very lucky girl. I was picked up as a stray, and found myself in a very high kill shelter. I was terrified, and just laid in the corner of my kennel scared stiff. After 3 days, my time was up. Fortunately, GSRA heard about my plight, and felt I had to be saved. I am a very pretty girl, and am about 3 years old. I am quite shy initially, and it takes me a few days to build trust. Once I get familiar with my surroundings, and start to feel comfortable, I come out of my shell and am more interactive. I am a shy and submissive girl, but will give gentle kisses on your hand when I know you are my friend. I will gentle wag my tail and come over to you most of the time when you call me. I really, really. really like my crate. There is something very comforting about having my own little space. I will even go sit in my crate when the door is open. I am very good with other dogs...I just want to play with them. I am very submissive and respectful to them, and I am so happy that a few of the resident dogs like me and are willing to play with me. I am very puppy-ish in play, and feel a lot more relaxed with another dog around. I am a really nice girl, just lacking in self-confidence at the moment. I am making progress, and am hoping to find a patient family that will love me and help me continue to make more progress. I am a loving girl, and will do my best to make you proud.

From foster mom:

Raven is an exceptionally beautiful dog, with a very distinctive dark mask, and a beautiful soft coat. She has the most gentle inquisitive eyes. So many things seem very overwhelming to Raven, and she is easily startled by sudden movments or noise. However, she is making tremendous progress in the few weeks since she has come into foster care. Raven really wants to be loved, and although she is very timid, she is not at all aggressive. She will gently wag her tail when you speak to her. After two weeks, she started play bowing and trying to get me to play with her in the yard. She is wonderful with other dogs, and really needs a friendly doggie companion to help her learn the ropes. She is very fast, and is a pleasure to watch when she engages in play with the other dogs. Raven is crate trained and housebroken. Raven MUST have a fenced yard, as she is not a candidate for leash walking to potty. Raven does walk fairly well on a leash, but if she gets uncomfortable, she will drop and roll and refuse to get up. She also must have a crate, as she feels very secure in the crate. Also, as she has started to get more comfortable, she has demonstrated a tendency to "chew", so crating while unsupervised would be best. Raven is a sweet dog, and will make a great addition to a lucky family who is willing to nurture her and have a little patience to allow her to overcome her fears. The reward will be well worth it as you will see the gradual improvements as she gains confidence.
