Jax is a sweet dog, approximately 80 lbs that recently lost his sight suddenly due to a retinal degenerative disorder thought to be genetic. Unfortunately his loss of sight came at the same time as the birth of my son. The combination of sudden blindness, a new infant in the house, and decreased available time from myself to spend walking and training Jax has resulted in him not receiving the perfect home he deserves. He is good with older kids and other pets, but I would not recommend him to a family with babies/toddlers because they cause him some anxiety, and he may trip on them due to his lack of sight. He manages steps easily with "step up, step down" commands and has no problems navigating up the three flights of stairs to our condo, but would need a single level home or one with gates/doors blocking indoor stairwells. He has always been up to date on vaccines and heart worm preventative and has received either Royal Canin or Science Diet dog food his entire life. I want to ensure that he goes to a home that can provide more time and stability than we can currently, but who will also maintain the quality of care that he's received.
