German Shepherd Dog (medium coat) : : Female (spayed) : : Young
(2.5 yrs old) Good with dogs, large and medium, and older considerate kids. Not good with cats. Update (6/18) I am still patiently awaiting my furever home! I have been so good these past 3 months and am ready to find my very own family to love. I have also 'filled out' and am now a happy and healthy 58 lbs! I am fully vetted and am ready to snuggle up in your lap and snooze while you watch tv. I am getting more comfortable every day with all the crazy ways that the 2-legged kids and their friends play. I still get really excited about balls and the kids jumping on the trampoline and I'm still trying to save my foster Mom from the vacuum but otherwise am pretty laid back. I'm an easy keeper. I like my crate when no humans are home and enjoy a couple of long walks a day but I don't really need any 'extreme' exercise to keep me happy. So here I am with my paws crossed and hoping my happy ending will come soon. Mika update (3/31/2012) Mika is a pint-sized powerhouse of intelligence, love and devotion. Perfect for an experienced dog handler that may not have the strength or space for the typical sized GSD. She is a beautiful and curious girl that wants to please and is very affectionate, somewhat of a velcro dog. She is completely house and crate trained. She gets along great with most dogs but can get a little snippy or domineering with small dogs. Mika gets very excited around screaming, running, wrestling children and some of their toys. We are working on building up her tolerance to childhood activity as we have three kids ages 5-10 in our house. At this time I think Mika would do best in a home without this type of distraction. However, she should be placed with someone with dog experience that is planning to continue introducing her to new and exciting things and helping her to become the calm and relaxed dog that can go every where and do everything. Mika has come along way and is just waiting to find her special forever home. PREVIOUS
Mika is my new name and I love it! They found me wandering around eating nothing but dirt. I was in a shelter and had to be rescued quickly because the backyard breeders were coming for me. I was rescued by a wonderful person in Wilmington. My foster home has taken me in and is fattening me up since I was only 33 lbs. I am now a whopping 41 lbs. and it's only been 3 weeks.
