Max is a 7-month old pure German Shepherd.
On the negative side: he is skittish, which makes him act nervous and barky around strangers. He does not like small children and cats. However, he plays with our 11-year old blind dog and with the neighbor's two-year old dog just fine.
On the positive side: he is very loyal, very loving, likes to cuddle and give kisses, and protective. He has an amazing talent with any kind of balls and frisbee; he loves to jump straight in the air and catch them. He could be a great agility dog. He listens very well to come, sit, and stay. I have been walking him along busy streets and in the downtown area and he is learning very quickly to be around noise and people. Max loves to hike! Also loves teenagers (11 and up) who are willing to play with him.
Max needs a loving owner that has prior experience with GSD's / large dog breeds and that likes to exercise or has (or would like to get more) experience with agility (or teaching tricks). I have a little obstacle course that I bought online and he loves it. Max gets antsy just sitting around; just like most shepherds. He currently has yard access from the garage. He is well behaved while alone, but again, he needs someone who can be with him at least half the day. This is not a dog that should be locked up in a crate.
Unfortunately, my financial situation has changed. I have to work more and added to a long commute I am simply gone from home too long for Max. He is young and needs more companionship than I am able to provide.
If you are serious about dedicating yourself to a GSD, please contact me. Max is simply wonderful.
