(3 yrs old) Good with dog, not good with small dogs or cats. Good with older/considerate children only.

Lady is a very sweet girl who has completed an amazing transformation in a very short time. She was surrendered to animal control by an owner who didn't feel like taking care of she and her mate. She had been kept outside in a small pen her entire life and socialized with another dog only when she was bred. She was completely shut down when she entered animal control and would certainly have been put down if not for GSRA. Since coming into rescue, she has absolutely blossomed! Her timid nature has completely melted away to reveal a confident girl who strives to love and be loved above all else. She originally had absolutely no idea what a house and furniture and petting and good food were all about, but she's a regular connoisseur now! She's definitely a "velcro" dog, one who will follow you around all day wherever you go. However, she does perfectly fine when you have to leave, quickly getting into her crate a nd falling asleep. She loves her crate and will voluntarily go in whenever she wants to sleep. But she certainly won't turn down a couch or bed if you offer! She has become a confident dog, but she also corrects very easily.

There are a few personality traits of Lady's that should be realized, though. She has a good prey drive and loves to chase (hunt) squirrels, rabbits, cats, and any small animals. She has some alpha female tendencies, but she does seem to thoroughly enjoy the company of other medium to large size dogs. There's no aggression; she's just still fully figuring out what it means to be a social dog after being isolated for most of her life. Although she would probably do fine with smaller dogs after careful introductions, she much prefers dogs more her size.

Above all, Lady just wants to love and be loved. She's a very sweet girl that could thrive in many different situations. Although I think she would really enjoy and do very well in formal obedience classes or some type of working training, I think she would also be just as content to have a stable loving home. If you're interested in Lady, act fast. She's a great catch and won't go unadopted long!
