Sweet and gentle shy female seeking home with calm and quiet family...
My name is Madaline, and I am actively seeking my forever home. I cannot tell you much about my past...I was caught in a trap and brought to the animal shelter with my pups. I was very skinny and scared, and was not sure if I would make it out of prison. I was terrified, but tried to be brave, and see what would happen. GSRA came to get me, and for the first time in a long time, I am learning what love is about. I am a shy and quiet girl by nature, but once I get to know you, I am eager to get attention and show you how appreciative I am. I am very hand shy, but am learning that a soft pet on the head or under the chin is quite enjoyable. I am just loving all the good food and comforts that home living offers (I have already gained over 10 pounds!!). I do a little happy dance when it is dinner time. I am a very quiet girl, and am not much of a barker. I am housebroken and crate trained, and I ride very well in the car. I also am a very good girl on the leash. I do n't care to be outside by myself, I like to take care of "business" and come back inside. I am a petite little lady, and only weigh about 50 pounds. If you are looking for a calm companion with a whimsical little personality, please come and meet me!
From foster mom:
Madaline is a petite little female, who came to us in a very emaciated condition. Although she seems to have a pretty grey muzzle, the vet is estimating that she is between 5-6 years old. Madaline has a very small frame, and is very dainty. Madaline has clearly had a difficult life prior to now. She was absolutely terrified of everything when she first got here. She would roll over and curl up into a little ball when approached. Madaline was very fearful, but not in the least bit aggressive. She is still pretty hand shy, but is eager for affection. She will play bow and dance around for attention once she gets to know you. She will still cower if you reach for her quickly, but is gaining confidence by the day. Madaline is crate trained, and seems to prefer the crate as a safe haven when she gets nervous. Madaline does enjoy the company of other dogs, and is very submissive. She needs a couple of days to adjust, but really tries hard to play with several of her fost er siblings. Madaline is non destructive, and quite a unique little girl. It has been very rewarding to see her slowly come out of her shell. Madaline will need a patient family to continue to show her all that life has to offer, and continue to let her confidence improve. Madaline is a little diamond in the rough, but is a delightful little dog that will make someone very happy. Madaline did test positive for heartworms, and her treatment is beginning shortly. Her coat is thin and spares, but with continued healthy nutrition, she will have a nice shiny coat within a few months. Come meet Madaline soon!!
