(1 1/2 years) Good with most dogs, cats and kids.

Amber-Wamber!!  Amber is 1 1/2 years old and got her name from the color gracing the edges of her ears.  She was brought to the local shelter multiple times for running-at-large.  "My owners got tired of paying to re-claim me and left my butt there!"  Amber has been in rescue since early July.  Like "Mougli" from the Jungle Book, Amber has come in from the wild to live in the busy city.  She has learned to co-habitate with 9 foster dogs and 5 cats reasonably well.  Amber is crate/house trained, good with cats but not so great with kittens and small active dogs.  The constant energy makes her be mouthy/inappropriate with them.  In the begining, Amber was very active and high energy with the other dogs and cats in the house.  She has since learned what the other animals will and will not tolerate.  She has had heartworm treatment and will be kept quiet until early October.  Since being separated from the pack, I have found her to be calmer and more laid back.  Amber seems to reflect the energy of her environment, a chameleon of sorts.  She can actually grab a toy and go lay down now!  She is a masterpiece in progress.  Amber would make a good pack memeber or buddy under the right circumstances, or be an only dog.  It is hard for me to say which would be best for her.  Structure and kindness are her friends.  Amber needs a calm strong leader (animal or person) to help guide her to be the greatest dog I know she can be.  Amber is playful, sweet, goofy, inappropriate but LEARNING!  Who is ready to help this "wild child" leave the dangerous jungle belind and be a great dog?
