Hey there!! Pleased to meet you! My name is Chance, and I am one of the sweetest girls you will ever meet!! Let me tell you a bit about myself....I had a home once, but in hindsight, it was not a very good one. I was never fed enough, and was always hungry. I guess my people did not really care very much about me, because one day they just dropped me off at this place called a shelter. It was a scary place, but at least they fed me, so I would happily wag my tail at anyone who approached my kennel. Although I was being a good girl, after a couple of days they said I was out of time. I was getting worried. Fortunately, GSRA heard about my predicament, and one of the volunteers came down to meet me. I was on my best behavior, and ended up leaving with her. She took me home and actually brought me inside the house. Wow, was that intimidating...there are hardwood floors there, and I was kind of scared by how slick they were, but I put on my big girl paws and figured it out! It is so nice to have a nice soft dog bed to sleep on, and plenty of food and water!! I had no idea life could be so good!! I have several other canine sisters, and am just thrilled to be part of a group...I get along great with everyone! I am very curious about all the things that go on around me...I follow mom around everywhere, just watching what she does. I am a very calm girl too, I am inquisitive and curious, but not a big barker. I LOVE going for rides in the car too. I am crate trained as well...mom says I need to stay in the crate during the time she is not home until I learn the ropes. I am house-trained as well, because although I was never in a house before, I just know that it is not appropriate to use the nice inside for a bathroom. I am very eager to be near and make mom proud, so I try to help out when I can...I even tried helping with the laundry, but mom insists that the socks are to stay in the drawers...I was just trying to take them out to play with them! But hey, mom wants to say a few words...she says this is only a temporary spot for me...there is actually a "special" home waiting with a family of my very own! I hope I get to meet you soon to see if you are my new family!! I will be a good girl and give you lots of love!!

From Foster Mom:

Chance is one of the sweetest and mellow shepherds I have ever fostered. Chance is about 2-3 years old, and extremely calm in nature. All Chance wants is a bit of attention, and to be close to her people. She has the most soulful eyes, and is so happy and appreciative of everything. Chance has obviously had a really rough start to life. It is suspected that she was kept on a chain, as she has a ring of short fur around her neck...usually indicative of life on a chain. She was very thin and emaciated when she was pulled from the shelter, a mere 47 pounds. She is now up to about 62 pounds, and can still afford to gain a bit more weight. Her coat is thin and sparse, but is starting to get a bit of a shine to it. Chance is extremely loyal and devoted, and will follow you everywhere. She can get a bit excited, and will try to hug you with her paws. All Chance wants is to be loved. She approaches new people calmly, and with a gentle wag of her tail. She seems fine with children too, as I have had her visiting with a few 2-3 year old toddlers. Chance is very well behaved, and seems very eager to please. Chance will hop in the bed if you let her, but if not, is perfectly content to sleep on her dog bed. Chance is very submissive to all the other dogs in the house, and seems to be eager to learn from them. She actually picked up a tennis ball for the first time after watching the others play. Chance seems curious about cats, but does not seem aggressive towards them. Chance has recently been spayed. Unfortunately, she is heartworm positive, and will be undergoing treatment toward the end of June. Chance will be through her recovery and ready for her new family sometime in early to mid-August. If you want a calm, loyal, and gentle family member, please try to meet Chance. Chance would love nothing more than to shower you with love and curl up on the couch with you. Once you meet her you will be delighted with her wonderful temperament . Chance will not last long, as she possesses almost all of the personality traits to fit into almost any home. There is something very magical about Chance...once you meet her you will see what a wonderful and unique girl she is.
