(3-4 yrs) Good with dogs, large and small. Good with older considerate kids and cats. Likes to vocalize and is friendly with new people.
Imagine being dumped at a shelter when you are about to give birth. Well, that's exactly where poor Jada found herself back in April. Like so many shelters in our area, the one in which Jada was staying has very caring people on staff - so when she surprised them with 9...yes 9..pups one morning they knew they had to try to get this little family to safety. That's when GSRA was called!
Jada has since raised and weaned her babies and is now looking for a new start. Although we estimate Jada to be between 3 and 4 years old, being a "child-bride" (we are sure she was kept as a breeder, having litter after litter until she was finally cast aside) she never had the chance for a childhood - so she's living it up now :) Jada is up for anything life has to offer, and is happy to tell you all about it. Yes folks, Jada is a talker...a very vocal girl who growls, grunts and chortles her way through every activity. At first it took us by surprise and we were a little worried about her. But then we realized that it’s just her way of expressing emotions - she hasn't got a mean bone in her body, and her favorite thing to do is cuddle up to you on the couch or bed, often times laying her head on your chest just looking for love. However, because of the gruff vocalizations, it took the other foster dogs and I a while to understand her, so careful introductions with other dogs and close monitoring as they start their friendship is a must. Once the other dogs realized all she wanted to do was play - and commentate - all was good! She is now happily living with 7 other dogs and a cat. Now she does seem interested in the cat, and tries to nudge him into playing, but of course he's completely uninterested in this and so ignores her. However, if you have a cat that decided to run to get away from her, you might have a game of chase on your hands...one in which the kitty participant is none too happy about! The good thing about Jada though is that she really wants to please, so with patience and understanding, even this could be worked out.
Jada would LOVE to have another doggie companion, or even 2. I think she'd prefer to be the Queen Bee of the house, so canine brothers would probably suit her best. However, if you have a laid back female that isn't all that interested in the rank order of things, Jada would be fine with that also. As for kids, we haven't tested her, however, we believe she would be fine with older ones who could give her her space when she needs it. She doesn't like having her tail played with and so little kids, who liked to pull on tails, wouldn't be a good match for Jada. Other than that though, she is an easy, loving girl who could fit into just about any home setting. She's the perfect size for a house or an apartment and has moderate exercise requirements. A good walk, some games of fetch and plenty of toys that she can toss up into the air would suit her well.
Jada is an exceptionally sweet girl who has had a rough past. She deserves to be the center of attention and to receive as much love as she is willing to dole out. If you don't mind a chatterbox, then Jada might be the perfect dog for you!
