(8-14 months old) Good with dogs and cats. Older/Considerate kids only.
Lars came to us 6 weeks ago from a shelter, he had been picked up in the field. He had no social skills, and was very scared but the shelter staff learned he is a VERY sweet boy and called us.
He's still very much a puppy: he steals shoes, socks, and other treasures. When he gets excited he mouths (never bites) and is learning how to play nicely with humans. He's a 65lb puppy, so any children should be older and experienced with active dogs.
Lars is still learning routines and rules, and doing great with both. He's house trained, crate trained, doggie door trained, and does well even when his regular routine changes. He rides well in the car. He can be a bit shy meeting strangers, but warms up quickly if he can sense a treat or a belly rub coming his way. Lars is good on a leash, but is easily distracted.
Lars is very smart and has great potential. A distraction proofing class would be ideal for him and his new forever home.
He's very active and plays hard outdoors. He's more subdued in the house, but he can get "wound up" and very excited. He'd do very well with a mature, patient dog who will tolerate his puppy antics.
Lars will do best in a home with patient, strong leadership and the understanding he's a work in progress and still needs a lot of work. I strongly feel that work will be handsomely rewarded.
Finally, Lars is a beautiful GSD. Black and Tan with a shiny, slightly curly medium coat. He has huge front legs/paws, and beautiful face/snout/ears/teeth.
