(1.7 year) Good with dogs and kids. Cat TBD. Good for seniors

Zeva is a fun loving one year old GSD mix who is extremely affectionate. She is very easy to train and has the cutest curly tail and softest coat. She knows basics (sit, lay) and is eager to learn. I expect she will know stay, speak, and shake in no time at all. She is completely healthy and displays all the one year old behaviors you would expect. She is trying her luck at counter surfing, crate break outs and chewing. All of these we have been able to manage very easily and is very typical of a young girl Zeva's age. She LOVES toys and will only chew on toys when her people are around. During her cage break out, she has been known to chew on an item or two that was not meant for doggies. But a reinforced kennel or airplane kennel would easily deter that. She is a strong chewer, so tough toys are recommended. Zeva is also crate trained. She happily goes in there and settles down quickly. Currently she is only crated when we l eave the house, and she sleeps next to our bed at night.
Update 1/17/12
Zeva is really getting the hang of things, her excited peeing is getting better everyday.  She is also the easiest pooch to train.  She is eager to learn and picks up new commands very easily. So far we are at sit, lay, shake and stay. Zeva is a total love bug, she is going to make a great family member!

More about Zeva

Good with Dogs, Good with Kids

Special Needs: Unfortunately in Zeva's one year in existence, she has been in 8 different homes/shelters/dog day cares. She enjoys meeting new people and is extremely loving and affectionate. She is so excited to meet new people, she frequently pees with excitement. This excited pee also happens if you greet her affectionately when you first come home or are too firm of voice when disciplining. Once Zeva learns your voice, tone, and intentions, the anxious peeing will dramatically decrease. It is important to let her out of her crate and outside prior to greeting her. Guests should be told in advance not to make eye contact or say her name on first meet and greet. By following a few helpful suggestions that GSRA has provided, we have been able to manage her anxious peeing. That is not to say that we don't still have a few excited piddles from time to time, but I suspect that this will mostly go away with a patient loving home that will work to build Zeva's confidence. And Zeva definitely deserves a warm loving home after a year of different homes. She loves to lay at your feet and cuddle with her humans.
