(11 months old) Good with kids, dogs (big and small). Not good with cats

Hi everybody - Arco here!! My Foster Momma said I had to tell you all a little about myself. So here it goes -

I'm one big, happy-go-lucky fellow, about a year old, incredibly handsome (or so I'm told!) and I'm looking for a job to do! I LOVE, LOVE and I mean LOVE a ball..I'll chase and fetch as long as u keep throwing for me. And when you're done ('cos I guarantee you will be done before I am!) I will hold onto the ball and carry it around in my mouth. That  way, when your arm has recovered and your in the mood to play again you won't have to waste time looking for a ball - it'll be right here in my mouth...a little soggy I admit...but still perfectly catchable!!

My foster momma says I'm spoiled..she seems to think if I'm not the center of attention I get upset. It's not really true though. It's just that I have gone a long time without a lot of attention, and now that I am here in my foster home where they really like me and play with me, I don't want them to forget about me. Not that they would, but hey, with one canine foster brother and seven canine foster SISTERS, I need to make my presence known! You understand, right? Talking of all my siblings, I really love them. I wrestle with them and run with them all, but I also leave them be when they tell me they have had enough (trust me, you don't want to mess with those girls - man can they can get moody!!) About the only thing I don't do well with is really little dogs...and cats.....ah...the smell of a cat makes me drool like a fool!!! Can I have ketchup with it please??? Oops - my foster Mom didn't think that was funny. She is telling me to get off the computer so she can say something! Bye!!

Arco's Foster Mom says: Arco is a very willing boy. He learns at a wonderful pace. He is high energy and really needs a job to do. His previous owners had started training him in german, but since I'm not good at even the english language let alone the german language, I'm sticking to training him in english! So far he has learned sit, down, up and wait very nicely. Arco will still need more leash training - he does good for the most part, but he can get distracted by smaller animals (he wasn't joking about his lust for cats!!). This boy is close to being perfect - he just needs someone to finish his training and guide him as he matures. Arco is wonderful with people, even smaller kids. I've had a couple of smaller kids (7-8) around him and he was very respectful with them. He also crates nicely. He has stayed in the house unattended for up to  four hours but always with another seasoned dog to keep him in line.

Arco is not a dog for a first-time GSD owner. If you give him an inch - he will take a country mile :) Part of that is his beguiling personality and part of that is just his breed. He is incredibly intelligent and really would excel if given a job. As a companion animal in a home, he will need a very active owner who can wear him out. Leaving Arco to make up his own fun and games is not a good idea! As much as he would do well with another dog buddy it has to be a dog that can put up with his size and strength. And I can't stress strongly enough - NO CATS!!

Arco is a joy to foster and we will miss him when he goes. He is a happy, well-adjusted boy who is still maturing, but who promises to be a phenomenal example of the GSD breed oncehe comes into his own.
